Moments of Silent Worship & Meditation

Confession and Cleansing

Call to Worship – “Sing praises to our God; sing praises! Sing praises to our King; sing praises! For God is King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm” (Psalm 47.6-7).

*Congregational Praise O Worship the King

Reading of the Law – Proverbs 6.20-23; Ephesians 6.1-3

Confession of Sin

Leader: Let us confess our sin to the Lord.

People: Almighty God and Righteous Father, we confess to you that we are a people conceived in sin, vile, wretched, miserable, blind. We have grieved you by disobeying the mothers you have given as a blessing to us. We have ignored your laws and your promises and thereby denied by our actions your goodness to us. Our lips are ready to confess, but our hearts are slow to feel, and our ways reluctant to amend. Unmask to us sin’s deformity, that we may hate it, abhor it, flee from it. We know that you are a gracious Father and we call upon your mercy in the name of your perfectly submissive and obedient Son. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

Leader: Hear the comfortable and gracious words of the Gospel:  This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all.  But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.  All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. (1 Timothy 1.15-17 [NLT]).
